Some Thoughts About Stripes vs. Solids
A simple game of pool can be more aesthetically complex than you might think.
As you may recall, Tuesday’s post about odd numbers vs. even numbers was prompted by a simple query from reader Tim Bullis. After I told Tim that I’d be devoting an entire post to respond to him, he wrote back with this:
Not to start another debate, but I have always preferred the solid-colored pool balls vs. the stripes. When playing “solids and stripes,” I always choose solids for aesthetic reasons. OK, I’m a nut.
Wow —another binary choice with near-existential implications! This clearly calls for another treatise.
