The mind-blowing intricacy of origami bloom patterns.
These remind me a bit of those paper ketchup cups used in some restaurants.

I'm a BYU alum and am starting a professor job in the biology department next year, fun to see a shoutout!
What blows my mind most about the bloom patterns is that it's a new thing. Like, how did no one think of these before?!
Right, that's why I like the first sentence of that NYT article so much: "The art of origami goes back centuries — enough time to explore every possible crease that can be made in a sheet of paper, one might think."
And yet!
Origami: it's the sushi of paper.
